WINTER 2013-14: The temperature for December 2013 averaged 36.9 degrees and was 4.4 degrees below normal.  The month tied with December 2008 as the 14th warmest such month on record (1977). The month was also the 3rd consecutive such month with below normal temperatures.  The month was the 11th consecutive month with near or below normal temperatures.  Fourteen days averaged near to above normal. There was 9 day with a maximum of 50F or higher, 3 days with maximums of 60F or higher and 1 day with a maximum of 70 degrees. There were 21 days with minimums of 32F or lower. There were 3 days with maximums of 32F or lower. Temperature extremes included 70F on the 22nd and 17F on the 25th.            

The temperature for January 2014 averaged 28.0 degrees and was 4.0 degrees below normal.  The month ranked as the 11th coldest such month on record and the coldest since 1996. The month was also the 12th consecutive month with below normal temperatures. Twelve days averaged near or above normal. The month was also the 3rd consecutive such month with below normal temperatures. There were 10 days with maximums of 50 degrees and higher and 3 days with maximums of 60 degrees and higher. There were 2 days with maximums of 32 and lower and 19 days with minimums of 32F or lower. Temperature extremes included 57F on the 11th and 11F on the 4th

The temperature for July 2014 averaged 77.5 degrees and was 3.4F below normal.  The month ranked as the 16th coldest such month on record (since 1977) and the coldest since 2005. The month was also the 9th consecutive month with below normal temperatures. There were 10 days that averaged near or above normal. There were 8 days with maximums of 90F and higher. Temperature extremes included 98F on the 8th and 60F on the 30th.

Measureable precipitation fell on 11 days.  Snowfall was above normal with 8.3 inches.

Precipitation totaled 2.82 inches and was .84 of an inch below normal. The month ranked as the 9th driest such month on record and the driest since 2010.  The most to fall in a 24-hour period was .68 of an inch on the 11th. Snowfall totaled 22.4 inches and was 12.9 inches above normal (230 percent of normal). The month ranked as the 5th snowiest such month on record and the snowiest since 1978. Measureable precipitation fell on 12 days.  The most in 24-hours was .68 on the 11th. Snowfall of one inch or more fell on 4 days. The most in a 24-hour period was 11.0 inches on the 21st

The month ranked as the 18th driest such month on record and the driest since 2002.  The most to fall in a 24-hour period was 2.79 inches on the 29th. The area was sparred 2 coastal systems with snow falling totaling only .2 of an inch. The month ranked as the 3rd least snowiest such month on record and the least snowiest since 2010. The most in a 24-hour period was .2 of an inch on the 13rd.  Snowfall for the season totaled 66.8 inches and tied with the 1993-94 season as the 2nd snowiest such season on record (1976-77) and the snowiest since 1995-96 season. The season was also the 2nd consecutive such season with above normal snowfall.
