WINTER 2018-19:  The average temperature for December averaged 38.5°F and was 0.8°F above normal.  The month ranked as the 13th warmest such month on record (since 1977) and the warmest since 1999. Only the first 13 days of the month averaged below normal. There were not any days with maximums of 32°F or lower.  Temperature extremes included 59°F on the 28th and 20°F on the 8th.

 

The average temperature for January 2019 averaged 31.6°F and was 0.1°F below normal.  The month ranked as the 19th warmest such month on record (since 1977) and the warmest since 1999. There were 5 days with maximums of 32°F or lower and 11 days with maximums of 40°F and higher and 4 days with maximums of 50°F and higher.  Temperature extremes included 59°F on the 1st and 1°F on the 31st.

 

The average temperature for February 2019 averaged 35.6°F and was 1.6°F above normal.  The month ranked as the 15th warmest such month on record (since 1977) and the warmest since 1983. The month was also the 4th consecutive month with above normal temperatures. There were 14 days that averaged near to below normal. There were 5 days with maximums of 50°F or higher and 3 days with maximums of 60°F or higher. Temperature extremes included 67°F on the 5th and 8°F on the 1st.

 

Winter 2018-19 averaged 35.2°F and tied with winter 1999-2000 as the 13th warmest such season and the 4th consecutive such season on record with above normal temperatures. 

 

SPRING:  The average temperature for March 2019 averaged 40.5°F and was 1.7°F below normal.  The month tied with March 1994 as the 13th coldest such month on record (since 1977) and the 3rd consecutive such month with below normal temperatures. Only 9 days averaged above normal. There were 15 days with maximums of 50°F or higher and 5 days with maximums of 60°F or higher and one day with maximums of 70°F or higher. Temperature extremes included 78°F on the 15th and 15°F on the 7th.

April’s average temperature was averaged 55.4°F and was 4.2°F above normal.  The month tied with April 1985 as the 7th warmest such month on record (since 1977). Only 8 days averaged below normal. There were 85 days with maximums of 70°F or higher and 2 days with maximums of 80°F or higher. Temperature extremes included 82°F on the 19th and 30°F on the 2nd

The temperature for May 2019 average 62.9°F and was +0.1°F above normal.  The month ranked as the 18th coolest such month on record (since 1977) and the coolest since 2016 Twelve days averaged below normal and 18 days averaged above normal. There were 7 days with maximums of 80°F or higher and 1 days with maximums of 90°F or higher. Temperature extremes included 90°F on the 26th and 40°F on the 15th.

The season averaged 52.9°F and ranked as the 21st coolest such month and the coolest since 2008.  Spring 2019 was also the 3rd consecutive such season with below normal temperatures.

 

SUMMER: The temperature for June 2019 average 72.0°F and was +1.9°F above normal.  The month ties with June 2007as the 14th warmest such month on record (since 1977).  The month was also the 3rd consecutive month with above normal temperatures. Sixteen days averaged above normal. There were 20 days with maximums of 80°F or higher and 4 days with maximums of 90°F or higher. Temperature extremes included 95°F on the 29th and 49°F on the 4th.

 

July’s temperature average 79.9°F and was +2.4°F above normal.  The month ranked as ties with June 2007as the 4th warmest such month on record (since 1977) and the warmest since 2011.  The month was also the 4th consecutive month with above normal temperatures. Only 9 days averaged near or below normal. There were 15 days with maximums of 90°F or higher. Temperature extremes included 100°F on the 21st (the first time since (2013) and 65°F on the 24th.

 

August’s temperature average 75.5°F and was near normal but still ranked as the 18th warmest such month on record (since 1977) and the warmest since 2009.  The month was also the 3rd consecutive month with above normal temperatures. Thirteen days averaged below normal. There were 5 days with maximums of 90°F or higher. Temperature extremes included 94°F on the 19th and 59°F on the 24th

Summer’s temperature averaged 75.8°F and tied with the summer of 1980 as the 12th warmest such season on record and was also the 2nd consecutive such season with above normal temperatures.

 

AUTUMN 2018: The temperature in September averaged 69.9°F and was 1.7°F above normal.  The month ranked as the 10th warmest such month on record (since 1977) and the warmest since 2011.  The month was also the 16th consecutive such month with above normal temperatures. Ten days averaged near to below normal. There were 11 days with maximums of 80°F or higher and 3 days of 90°F or higher. Temperature extremes included 92°F on the 23rd and 48°F on the 19th.

 

The temperature for October averaged 59.0°F and was near normal.  The month ranked as the 7th coldest such month on record (since 1977) and the warmest since 2018.  The month was also the 10th consecutive such month with below normal temperatures. 21 days averaged near or above normal. There were 1 day with maximums of 90°F or higher and 1 day of 80°F or higher. Temperature extremes included 93°F on the 2nd (a degree higher than September’s maximum) and 38°F on the 19th.

WINTER 2018-19:  

 

Precipitation for December totaled 7.26 inches and was 3.35 inches above normal. The month ranked as the 2nd wettest such month on record with above normal precipitation and the wettest since 1983. The month was also the 6th consecutive month with above normal precipitation. There were 11 days with measurable precipitation. The most to fall in a 24-hour period was 1.94 inches on the 20-21st.  There were only 7 clear days and 8 overcast days. Snowfall was also below normal with only a trace record.  The month tied with 1978, 1994, 1996, 1999 and 2001 as the 2nd least snowiest such month.

 

For January, precipitation totaled 3.48 inches and was .08 of an inch below normal. The month ranked as the 24th driest such month on record and was the first month with below normal precipitation since June 2018. The period was the wettest since 1977-78. The period December 2018 and January 2019 a total of 10.74 inches of precipitation was received.  Snowfall was also below normal with only 1.3 inches.  The month ranked as the 5th least snowiest such month on record and the least snowiest such month since 2013. The month was also the second consecutive month with below normal snowfall. There were 10 days with measurable precipitation. The most to fall in a 24-hour period was 1.47 inches on the 19-20th.  There were only 7 clear days and 7 overcast days

Snowfall was again below normal in February with only 4.0 inches (39%).  The month tied with February 1990 as the 10th least snowiest such month on record.  The month was also the 3rd consecutive month with below normal snowfall and the 2nd consecutive such month with below normal snowfall. Winter2018-19 precipitation totaled 14.38 inches and ranked as the 6th wettest such season on record and the wettest since 1981-82 winter. The season was the 2nd consecutive such season with above normal precipitation. Snowfall was below normal with only 5.3 inches recorded.  This tied with the 1988-89 winter as the 5th least snowiest such season on record.  The season was also the 3rd consecutive such season with below normal snowfall.

 

SPRING Precipitation for March totaled 4.23 inches and was .098 of an inch above normal. The month ranked as the 21st driest such month on record and the driest since 2014 and was also the 2nd consecutive month with above normal precipitation. The most received in a 24-hour period was 1.02 inches. There were 9 days with measurable precipitation. Snowfall was above normal with 10.6 inches The month ranked as the 8th snowiest such month on record and the most since 2017.  The most received in a 24 hour period was 4.0 inches on the 4th. The month was also the 3rd snowiest such month with above normal snowfall.  Snowfall for the season totaled 21.9 inches and ranked as the 13th least snowiest such season on record since 1981-81 season.  The most received in a 24-hour was 4.0 inches on March 4th.  There were also similar occurrences. There were 11 clear days and 8 overcast days.
