WINTER 2021-22: December’s temperature averaged 43°F and was 5.3°F above normal.  The month ranked as the 2^nd warmest such month on record (since 1977).  The month was the 4^th consecutive such month with above normal temperatures.   Only 5 days averaged near or below normal.  There were 16 days with maximums of 50°F or higher.  There were t days with minimums of 32°F or lower.  Temperature extremes included 67°F on the 11^th and 24°F on the 20^th  

January’s temperature averaged 30.1°F and was 1.6°F below normal.  The month tied with January 2011 as the 13^th coldest such month on record (since 1977).   Only 10 days averaged above normal.  There were 11 days with maximums of 40°F or higher and 4 days with maximums of 50°F or higher.  There were 6 days with maximums of 32°F or lower and 28 days with minimums of 32°F or lower.  Temperature extremes included 59°F on the 2^nd and 8°F on the 16^th.

February’s temperature averaged 37.2°F and was 3.2°F above normal.  The month ranked as the 10^th warmest such month and was the warmest since 1981.  The month was the 7^th consecutive such month with above normal temperatures.  There were 14 days that averaged near or below normal.  There were 9 days with maximums of 50°F, 4 days with maximums of 60°F and one days with a maximum of 70°F.  There was only 2 days with maximums of 32°F or low normal is 4.  Temperature extremes included 70°F on the 23^rd and 16°F on the 14^th.

SPRING: March’s temperature averaged 45.2°F and was 3°F above normal.  The month ranked as the 9^th warmest such month and was the warmest since last year.  The month was the also the 3^rd consecutive such month and 2^nd consecutive month with above normal temperatures.  There were 18 days that averaged near or above normal.  There were 19 days with maximums of 50°F or higher, 10 days with maximums of 60°F or higher and 3 days with maximums of 70°F or higher.  There was only 12 days with minimums of 32°F or lower.  Temperature extremes included 75°F on the 18^th and 21°F on the 4^th.

April’s temperature averaged 53.3°F and was 2.1°F above normal.  The month ranked as the 19^th warmest such month and was the warmest since 2016.  The month was the also the 3^rd consecutive month with above normal temperatures.  There were 17 days that averaged near or above normal and 13 days with maximums of 60°F or higher and 7 days with maximums of 70°F or higher.  There was only 1 day with maximums of 80°F or higher.  Temperature extremes included 87°F on the 14^th and 37°F on the 18^th.

The temperature for May averaged 65.4°F and was 2.6°F above normal.  The month tied with June 2017 as the 10^th warmest such month on record (since 1977).  Twelve days average near or below normal.  There were 5 days with minimums of 80°F or higher.   Temperature extremes included 96°F on the 31^st and 45°F on the 8^th.

The temperature for the season averaged 54.7°F (+3.1°F) and ranked as the 9^th warmest such season of record and the warmest since 1986.  The season was also the 2^nd consecutive such season with above normal temperatures.

SUMMER: June’s temperature averaged 72.9°F and was 2.8°F above normal.  The month ranked as the 13^th warmest such month on record (since 1977) and the 4^th consecutive such month with above normal temperatures.  Thirteen days average near or below normal.  There were 3 days with maximums of 90°F or higher.   Temperature extremes included 93°F on the 25^th and 54°F on the 19^th.

The temperature for July averaged 81.4°F and was the warmest such month on record (since 1977) and the warmest since 1993.  The month was the 3^rd consecutive month with above normal temperatures.  Only 6 days averaged near or below normal.  There were 14 days with maximums of 90°F or higher and 2 days with maximums of 100°F.  Temperature extremes included 100°F on the 24^th and 65°F on the 4^th.

The temperature for August averaged 80.5°F and was the warmest such month on record (since 1977).  The month was the 7^th consecutive month with above normal temperatures.  Only 4 days averaged near or below normal.  There were 16 days with maximums of 90°F or higher Normal is 6).  Temperature extremes included 99°F on the 94^th and 65°F on the 14^th.

The season averaged 78.3°F and was the warmest summer on record.  The season was also the 5^th warmest consecutive such season on record.

The yearly temperature was 56.8°F and tied with 2010 and 2016 as the 3^rd warmest such year on record.  The year was the 18^th consecutive year with above normal temperatures.

PRECIPITATION

Precipitation for December totaled only 1.33 inches and was 2.58 inches below normal (34%).  The month ranked as the 7^th driest such month on record and was the driest since 1992.  The month the 2^nd consecutive such month with below normal precipitation and the 2^nd consecutive such month with below normal precipitation.  Measurable precipitation fell on 13 days of the month.  The most received in a 24-hour period was .26 of an inch on the 26^th.  Snowfall was also below normal with only 0.6 of an inch recorded.  The month ranked as the 5^th least snowiest such month on record and the least snowiest since 1991.  There were only 6 clear days and 12 overcast days.
