The temperature averaged 74.1 degrees and was 4.6 degrees below normal.  The month ranked as the 8th coldest such month on record (1977) and the coldest since 1994.  Ten days averaged near to above normal. There were only 3 days with maximums of 90 degrees and higher. There were 9 days with maximums of 80 degrees and lower. Temperature extremes included 91F on the 21st and 56 degrees on the 15th.             

Precipitation in August totaled 3.45 inches and ranked as the 16th driest such month on record and the driest since 2003.  The month was also the 2nd consecutive such month with below normal precipitation and also the 2nd consecutive month with below normal precipitation. Most of the month’s rainfall fell during the first 15 days of the month. The most to fall in a 24-hour period was .85 of an inch on the 12-13.  There were 9 days with measurable precipitation. There were only 9 clear days and 7 overcast days.
