The temperature for August 2014 averaged 74.7 degrees and was 4.0F below normal.  The month ranked as the 11th coldest such month on record (since 1977) and the coldest since 1987.  There ere only 6 days with near to above normal temperatures. There were 5 days with maximums of 90F and higher. Temperature extremes included 98F on the 10th and 57F on the 15th.              

Precipitation totaled 3.15 inches and was .72 of an inch below normal. The month ranked as the 16th driest such month on record and the driest since 2001. The month was also the 3rd consecutive such month with below normal precipitation. The most to fall in a 24-hour period was 1.15 inches on the 31st. There were 4 overcast days and 12 clear days.
