AUTUMN 2013: September temperature averaged 67.6 degrees and was 4 degrees below normal.  The month ranked as the 12th coldest such month on record (1977) and the coldest since 1986. The month was the second consecutive month with below normal temperatures.  Ten days averaged above normal. There were 12 days with maximums of 800 degrees and higher and 2 days with maximums of 90F and higher. Temperature extremes included 97F on the 11th and 44 degrees on the 24th.

The temperature for October averaged 59.7 degrees and was normal.  However, the month ranked as the 4th warmest such month on record and the warmest since 1990. The month was also the 4th consecutive such of near to above normal temperatures.  Eighteen days averaged above normal. There were 4 days with maximums temperatures of 80F or higher. Temperature extremes included 88F on the 4th and 34 degrees on the 26th.

November’s temperature averaged 43.6 degrees and was 6.0 degrees below normal.  The month ranked as the 8th coldest such month on record and the coldest since 1986. The month was also the 2nd consecutive such month with below normal temperatures.  The month was the 10th consecutive month with near to below normal temperatures.  Only 7 days averaged near to above normal. There was 1 day with a maximum of 32F or lower.  There were 15 days with minimums of 32F or lower. There were 18 days with maximums of 60F or lower. Temperature extremes included 70F on the 1st and 18F on the 25th.

The temperature for the season averaged 57 degrees and ranked as the 16th warmest such season on record and the warmest since 1984.  The season was also the 3rd consecutive such season on record with above normal temperatures.

Precipitation in September totaled only 2.05 inches was 2.43 inches below normal. The month ranked as the 7th driest such month on record and the driest since 1994.  The month was also the 2nd consecutive month with below normal precipitation. Measureable precipitation fell on 7 days of the month.  Most of the month’s rain fell during the first 13 days of the month. The most to fall in a 24-hour period was .69 of an inch on the 12-13.  There were only 17 clear days and only 1 overcast day.

November’s precipitation totaled 3.81 inches and was near normal. The month ranked as the 21st driest such month on record and the driest since 1981.  The month was the 5th consecutive month with below normal precipitation. Most of the month’s precipitation fell during the 26th-27th (3.05 inches) which was also the most to fall in a 24-hour period. Measureable precipitation fell on 8 days.  Snowfall was below normal with only a trace. Normal is .6 of an inch. There were only 8 clear days and 5 overcast days.

Autumn 2013 also ranked as the 2nd consecutive such season on record with below normal precipitation.
