AUTUMN 2015: Temperatures in September averaged 73.1F for the month and ranked as the warmest such month on record (since 1977) and the warmest since 2005. The month was also the 2nd consecutive such month with above normal temperatures. Only 4 days averaged near or below normal. There were 8 days with maximums of 90F or higher (normal is 1).

 

Temperature for October 2015 averaged 56.7F and was 3F below normal. The month tied with October 1991 as the 16th warmest such month on record. The month was also ranked 6th consecutive such month. Eleven days averaged above normal. There was 1 day with a minimums of 32F or lower.

 

November averaged above normal with a temperature of 51.2F and was 1.6F above normal. The month ranked as the 5th warmest such month on record (since 1977) and the warmest since 2009. Eleven days averaged near or below normal. There were 5 days with maximums of 70F or higher and 4 days with minimums of 32F or lower.  Temperature extremes were 79F on the 3rd and 36F on the 24th.

 

The temperature for the season averaged 60.3F and was the warmest such season on record and was also the 12th consecutive such season on record.

 

Precipitation was sparse in September.  Half the month little precipitation fell. Precipitation totaled 2.53 inches of rain was recorded and was only 56 percent of normal. The month ranked as the 12th driest such month on record and the driest since 1986. The most to fall in a 24-hour period was 1.15 inches on the 10th. There were 17 clear days and only 4 overcast days.

 

Precipitation in October was above normal with 3.93 inches.  The month ranked as the 16th wettest such month on record and the wettest since 1984. The month was also the 2nd consecutive such month with above normal precipitation.  The middle of the month was dry.  There were 8 days with measurable rai8nfall. The most to fall in a 24-hour period was 1.61 inches on the 28-29th. There were 13 clear days and only 6 overcast days.

 

Precipitation in November totaled 1.72 inches and was only 45 percent of normal (2.14 inches below normal). The month ranked as the 5th driest such month on record and the driest since 2009. Most of the month’s precipitation fell on the 13th which was the most to fall in a 24-hour period (1.12 inches). There were 7 days with measurable rainfall. There were 11 clear days and 11 overcast days.

 

Precipitation was highly variable.  Precipitation totaled 8.18 inches for the season and ranked as the 10th driest such season on record and the driest since 2012. The period Oct.-Nov. rainfall totaled 5.65 inches and ranked as the 14th such period with below normal rainfall.
