AUTUMN 2019

TEMPERATURE

The temperature in September averaged 69.9°F and was 1.7°F above normal.  The month ranked as the 10th warmest such month on record (since 1977) and the warmest since 2011.  The month was also the 16th consecutive such month with above normal temperatures. Ten days averaged near to below normal. There were 11 days with maximums of 80°F or higher and 3 days of 90°F or higher. Temperature extremes included 92°F on the 23rd and 48°F on the 19th.

 

The temperature for October averaged 59.0°F and was near normal.  The month ranked as the 7th coldest such month on record (since 1977) and the warmest since 2018.  The month was also the 10th consecutive such month with below normal temperatures. 21 days averaged near or above normal. There were 1 day with maximums of 90°F or higher and 1 day of 80°F or higher. Temperature extremes included 93°F on the 2nd (a degree higher than September’s maximum) and 38°F on the 19th.

 

The temperature for November averaged 42.4°F and was 4.4°F below normal.  The month ranked as the 5th coldest such month on record (since 1977) and the coldest since 1996.  The month was also the 3rd consecutive month with below normal temperatures. Only 8 days averaged above normal. There were 11 day with minimums of 32°F or lower and 4 days with maximums of 60°F or higher. Temperature extremes included 72°F on the 1st and 21°F on the 13th

Autumn’s temperature averaged 57.2°F and ranked as the 17th warmest autumn and the warmest since 2014.

PRECIPITATION

Precipitation totaled .78 of an inch and was 3.32 inches below normal (19% of normal). The month ranked as the driest such month on record and the driest since 2007. The most received in a 24-hour period was .56 of an inch on the 2nd. There were only 6 days with measurable precipitation. There were only 11 clear days and only 3 overcast days.

October’s precipitation totaled 7.80 inches and was 4.47 inches above normal (234% of normal). The month ranked as the 3rd wettest such month on record and the wettest since 1977. The Month was the 3rd consecutive such month with above normal precipitation.  The most received in a 24-hour period was 2.38 inches on the 16-17th. There were only 9 days with measurable precipitation. There were 11 clear days and 6 overcast days.

The season’s rainfall totaled 10.40 inches and ranked as the 21st driest such season on record and the driest since 1984. The period October-November rainfall totaled 9.62 inches and ranked as the 12th wettest such period on record and the wettest since 2011. The period was also the 2nd consecutive such period with above normal rainfall.
