The month featured a strong negative NAO and a mostly positive PNA index. The average temperature was 35.5F and was 1.4F below normal. The month tied December 2002 as the 10th coldest such month on record (1977). Temperature extremes included 68F on the 3rd and 15F on the 29th. Seventeen days averaged near or below normal.
