SUMMER 2020: The temperature for June averaged 73.3°F and was 3.2°F above normal.  The month ranked as the 5th warmest such month on record (since 1977) and the warmest since 2009.  Eleven days averaged near or below normal. There was 4 days with maximums of 90°F or above.  Temperature extremes included 93°F on the 22nd and 46°F on the 1st.

 

The temperature for July averaged 80.5°F and was 3.0°F above normal.  The month tied with 2013 as the 2nd warmest such month on record (since 1977).  The month was also the 2nd consecutive month with above normal temperatures.  Ten days averaged near or below normal. There was 18 days with maximums of 90°F or above (normal is 10).  Temperature extremes included 98°F on the 19th and 66°F on the 2nd.

 

The temperature for August averaged 78.2°F and was 2.5°F above normal.  The month ranked as the 4th warmest such month on record (since 1977) and the warmest since 2018.  The month was also the 3rd consecutive month with above normal temperatures and the 3rd consecutive month with above normal temperatures.  Eight days averaged below normal. There was 12 days with maximums of 90°F or above (normal is 6).  Temperature extremes included 96F on the 10th and 59°F on the 20th.

 

The temperature averaged 77.3°F and ties with the summer 1993 as the 3rd warmest such season on record.  Temperature extremes included 89°F on July 19th and 59°F on Aug. 9th.  There were 34 days with maximums of 90°F or higher.    

June’s precipitation totaled 2.67 inches and was 1.35 inches below normal (66%). The month ranked as the 13h driest such month on record and the driest since 2016. Precipitation fell on only 8 days of the month with the most to fall in a 24-hour period was 1.00 inches on the 28th.  Most of the month’s rainfall fell on the first 6 days of the month and at the end.

Precipitation in July totaled 6.04 inches and was 1.75 inches above (141%). The month ranked as the 11th wettest such month on record and the wettest since 1994. The month was the 3rd consecutive such month with above normal precipitation.  The month also ranked as the 3rd consecutive such month with above normal precipitation.  The period June-July, precipitation totaled 8.71 inches and ranked as the 16th wettest such period and the driest since 1988.  Precipitation fell on only 10 days of the month.  The most received in a 24-hour period was 2.55 inches on the 10th. 

Precipitation for August totaled 3.14 inches and was 1.12 inches below normal (74%). The month ranked as the 18th driest such month on record and the driest since 2001.  The month was the 2nd consecutive month with below normal precipitation.  Precipitation fell on 15 days of the month.  The most received in a 24-hour period was 1.19 inches on the 3-4th. 

For the season, precipitation totaled 11.85 inches and ranked as the 22nd wettest such season on record and the wettest since 2000 and it was the 3rd consecutive such season with above normal precipitation.  The period July-August, precipitation totaled 9.18 inches and ranked as the 16th wettest such period and the wettest since 1999 and was also the 2nd consecutive such period with above normal precipitation.
