The temperature for May averaged 60.5°F and was 2.3°F below normal.  The month ranked as the 5th coldest such month on record (since 1977) and the coldest since 2008.  The month was also the 2nd consecutive month with below normal temperatures and also the 2nd consecutive such month with below normal temperatures.  Only 9 days averaged above normal. There was 15 days with maximums of 70°F or above and 6 days of 80°F or higher.  Temperature extremes included 88°F on the 15th and 33°F on the 9th.    

Precipitation for the month totaled 1.96 inches and was 2.06 inches below normal (44%). The month ranked as the 8th driest such month on record and the wettest since 1987. Precipitation fell on 12 days of the month with the most to fall in a 24-hour period was .60 inches on the 23rd.  There were only 7 clear days and 7 overcast days.
