OCTOBER 2010:

The month featured a negative NAO and a positive PNA. The temperature averaged 58.8F and was 0.8 degrees above normal. The month ranked as the 5th warmest such month on record (1977) and the warmest since 1995. Only 8 days averaged below or near normal. Temperature extremes included 77F on the 11th and 42F on the 30th. There were 17 days with maximums of 70F or higher and 4 days with maximums of 60F or lower.  

Precipitation totaled 4.87 inches and ranked as the 10th wettest such month on record and the wettest since 1995. The month was also the 3rd consecutive month and the 2ns consecutive such month with above normal precipitation. There were 9 days with measurable precipitation. Most of the month’s rainfall fell on the first day of the month when 2.85 inches fell which was the most to fall in a 24-hour period. This was a record for the day. The old record was 1.29 inches set in 1979. There were 18 clear days and only 5 overcast days.
