SPRING 2012: The temperature in March averaged 51.4F and was 8.0F above normal. The month ranked as the warmest such month on record (since 1977) and the warmest since 2010. The month was also the 5th consecutive month with above normal temperatures.  Only 3 days averaged below normal. The biggest departures occurred around mid-month with temperature departures as high as 26 degrees above normal. Twenty-five days out of the month had maximums of 50F or higher. There were 9 days with maximums of 70F or higher. Temperature extremes included 80F on the 23rd and 25F on the 6th.  The temperature in April averaged 58.4F and was near normal (only .03F above normal). The month tied with April 2009 as the 10th warmest such month on record. The month was also the 6th consecutive month with above normal temperatures.  Ten days averaged near to below normal of which most of the days occurred during the last week of the month. There were 24 days with maximums of 60F or higher. There were 6 days with maximums of 70F or higher and 1 day with a maximum of 80F or higher. Temperature extremes included 87F on the 16th and 37F on the 6th.  The temperature in May averaged 65.9F and was 1 degree above normal. The month tied with May 1980 as the 6th warmest such month on record (since 1977). There were 28 days with temperatures above normal.  There were only 20 days with maximums of 70F and higher, 7 days with maximum of 80F and higher and 1 day with a maximum of 90F and higher. Temperature extremes included 91F on the 29th and 49F on the 11th.

Precipitation in March totaled .95 of an inch and ranked as the 2nd driest such month on record and the driest since 2006. The month was also the 3rd consecutive month with below normal. The most received in a 24-hour period was .37 of an inch on the 1st-2nd.  The trend of below normal snowfall continued in Month.  The month ranked as the least snowiest on record since 2010. The trend of below normal precipitation continued in April with a total of 3.02 inches. The month ranked as the 12th driest such month and the driest since 1994. The month was also the 5th consecutive such month with below normal precipitation. The most received in a 24-hour period was 2.68 inch on the 22nd-23rd. Precipitation in May totaled 5.89 inches and ranked as the 8th wettest such month on record and the wettest since 1998. The month also ranked as the 2nd consecutive such month with above normal precipitation. The most received in a 24-hour period was 1.52 inches on the 21st.

Precipitation for the season totaled 12.86 inches and ranked as the 19th driest such season on record and the driest since 2002. The period April-May a total of 8.91 inches of rain fell and ranked as the 20th wettest such period on record and the wettest since 2000.
