SPRING 2014: The temperature for March 2014 averaged 37.1 degrees and was 7.8F degrees below normal.  The month ranked as the 3rd coldest such month on record (since 1977) and the coldest since 1978. The month was also the 3rd consecutive such month with below normal temperatures. There were 10 days with maximums of 50 degrees and higher and 3 days with maximums of 60 degrees and higher. There were 2 days with maximums of 32 and lower and 19 days with minimums of 32F or lower. Temperature extremes included 57F on the 11th and 11F on the 4th

The temperature for April 2014 averaged 51.6 degrees and was 1.4F degrees below normal.  The month ranked as the 10th coldest such month on record (since 1977) and the coldest since 1995. The month was also the 2nd consecutive such month with below normal temperatures and also the 6th consecutive month with below normal temperatures. There were 6 days with temperatures near or above normal, and 2 days with maximums of 80 degrees and higher.  There was only 1 day with minimums of 32F or lower. Temperature extremes included 81F on the 14th and 29F on the 8th

The temperature for May 2014 averaged 64 degrees and was 2.7F below normal.  The month tied with May 2000 as the 10th warmest such month on record (since 1977) and the 7th consecutive month with below normal temperatures. There were 10 days with above normal temperatures. There were 10 days with maximums of 80 degrees and higher.  There were 2 days with maximums of 90F or higher. Temperature extremes included 95F on the 26th and 45F on the 19th.

Precipitation in April totaled 7.81 inches and was 3.57 inches above normal. The month ranked as the 3rd wettest such month on record and the wettest since 1983. The most to fall in a 24-hour period was 4.92 inches on the 30th which was a record for the day. Snowfall was the below normal with only .3 of an inch recorded.  The month tied with April 1986 as the 3rd least snowiest such month on record. The most in a 24-hour period was .2 of an inch on the 13rd.  Snowfall for the season totaled 67.1 inches and tied with the 1993-94 season as the 2nd snowiest such season on record (1976-77) and the snowiest since 1995-96 season. The season was also the 2nd consecutive such season with above normal snowfall.

The above normal precipitation trend continued in May with 5.93 inches recorded. This is 1.47 inches above normal. The month ranked as the 8th wettest such month on record and the wettest since 2011. The month ranked as the 2nd consecutive month and the 4th consecutive such month with above normal precipitation. The most to fall in a 24-hour period was 2.39 inches on the 23rd.
