SPRING 20223:  March’s temperature averaged 44°F and ranked as the 13th warmest such month on record since 2013 (since records started 1977).   The month was also the 4th consecutive such month with above normal temperatures.  Thirteen days averaged near or below normal.  There were 16 days with maximums of 50°F or higher and 6 days with maximums of 60°F or higher.  There was 7 days with maximums of 32°F or lower (normal is 14).  Temperature extremes included 64°F on the 21st and 29°F on the 19th.      

April’s temperature averaged 57.6°F and ranked as the 2nd warmest such month on record and the warmest since 2010 (since records started 1977).   Twelve days averaged near or below normal and occurred mostly during the last week of the month.  There were 11 days with maximums of 70°F or higher and 4 days with maximums of 80°F or higher.  There were 2 days with maximums of 90°F or higher (normal is zero).  Temperature extremes included 92°F on the 14th and 35°F on the 3rd.

 

The temperature for May averaged 63.3°F and tied with May as the 13th warmest such month on record and was also the 2nd consecutive such month with above normal temperatures (since records started 1977).   Fifteen days averaged near or below normal.  There were 7 days with maximums of 80°F or higher.  Temperature extremes included 88°F on the 12th and 44°F on the 18th.

The season averaged 54.6°F and tied with spring 1986as the 8th consecutive such season with above normal temperatures.  The season was also the 3rd consecutive such season with above normal temperatures. 

Precipitation in March totaled 3.62 (90%).  The month ranked as the 16th driest such month on record and the driest since 2013.  The month ranked as the 3rd driest such month on record.  The most received in a 24-hour was 1.50 on an inch on the 3rd-4th.  Snowfall was also below normal with only 0.6 inches (normal is 5.8 inches).  The month ranked as the 2nd least snowiest such month on record and the least since 1991.  It was also the 4th consecutive such month with below normal snowfall.  For the season, snowfall totaled only 4.6 inches and ranked as the 2nd least snowiest such season since 2001.  There wear not any days with measurable snowfall of an inch or more.  The same can be said for the month.  Precipitation fell on 12 days of the month.  The most to fall in a 24-hour period was 1.50 inches on the 3rd-4th. Precipitation for April totaled 6.54 (168%).  The month ranked as the 6th wettest such month on record and the wettest since 2011.  The month ranked as the 2nd consecutive such month with above normal rainfall.  There period March-April precipitation totaled 10.16 inches and ranked as the 12th wettest such period since 1977.  The most received in a 24-hour was 1.70 on an inch on the 29th.  Precipitation fell on 9 days of the month. Most of the month’s rainfall fell in the last 3 days of the month.  There 10 clear day and 10 overcast days.  

Precipitation fin May totaled only 1.71 inches (39%).  The month ranked as the 6th wettest such month on record and the wettest since 1993.  There period April-May precipitation totaled 8.25 inches and ranked as the 24th driest such period on record since 1987.  The most received in a 24-hour was .75 on an inch on the 20th.  Precipitation fell on 7 days of the month.  There 13 clear day and only 3 overcast days.  

For the season, rainfall totaled only 11.87 inches and ranked as the 21st driest such season on record and the driest since the 2007 spring season.   The spring 2023 was the 4th consecutive such season with below normal precipitation.  The period April-May precipitation totaled 8.25 inches and ranked as the 24th driest such period on record since 1987.th.
