TEMPERATURE

The temperature for June 2019 average 72.0°F and was +1.9°F above normal.  The month ties with June 2007as the 14^th warmest such month on record (since 1977).  The month was also the 3^rd consecutive month with above normal temperatures. Sixteen days averaged above normal. There were 20 days with maximums of 80°F or higher and 4 days with maximums of 90°F or higher. Temperature extremes included 95°F on the 29^th and 49°F on the 4^th.

July’s temperature average 79.9°F and was +2.4°F above normal.  The month ranked as ties with June 2007as the 4^th warmest such month on record (since 1977) and the warmest since 2011.  The month was also the 4^th consecutive month with above normal temperatures. Only 9 days averaged near or below normal. There were 15 days with maximums of 90°F or higher. Temperature extremes included 100°F on the 21^st (the first time since (2013) and 65°F on the 24^th.

August’s temperature average 75.5°F and was near normal but still ranked as the 18^th warmest such month on record (since 1977) and the warmest since 2009.  The month was also the 3^rd consecutive month with above normal temperatures. Thirteen days averaged below normal. There were 5 days with maximums of 90°F or higher. Temperature extremes included 94°F on the 19^th and 59°F on the 24^th. 

Summer’s temperature averaged 75.8°F and tied with the summer of 1980 as the 12^th warmest such season on record and was also the 2^nd consecutive such season with above normal temperatures.

PRECIPITATION

Precipitation in June totaled 4.65 inches and was .65 of  an inch above normal (116 percent of normal). The month ranked as the 11^th wettest such month on record and the wettest since 2004. The month was also the 2^nd consecutive month with above normal precipitation. The most received in a 24-hour period was 1.04 inches on the 10^th-11^th. There were 13 days with measurable precipitation. There were only 7 clear days and 7 overcast days.

Precipitation totaled 7.96 inches in July and was 3.68 inches above normal (186 percent of normal). The month ranked as the 3^rd wettest such month on record and the wettest since 1997. The month was also the 3^rd consecutive month with above normal precipitation. The most received in a 24-hour period was 2.89 inches on the 22-23^rd. There were 10 days with measurable precipitation. There were only 12 clear days and only 2 overcast days.

Precipitation for August totaled 3.40 inches and was .86 of an inch below normal. The month ranked as the 18^th driest such month on record and the driest since 2014. The most received in a 24-hour period was 1.42 inches on the 22-23^rd. There were 12 days with measurable precipitation. There were only 8 clear days and only 2 overcast days.

The season’s rainfall totaled 16.01 inches and ranked as the 7^th wettest such season on record and the wettest since 2013. The season was also the second consecutive such season with above normal precipitation. The period July-August rainfall totaled 11.36 inches and ranked as the 9^th wettest such season on record and the wettest since 1987. The period was also the 2ns consecutive such period with above normal rainfall.
