WINTER 2022-23:  The temperature for December averaged 38.1°F and tied with December 2020 as the 15th warmest such month on record (since 1977).   The month was also the 5th consecutive such month with above normal temperatures.  Thirteen days averaged near or below normal.  There were 93 days with maximums of 50°F or higher and 1 day with maximums of 60°F or higher.  There were 3 days with maximums of 32°F or lower (which is normal).  There were 18 days with minimums of 32°F or lower.  Temperature extremes included 63°F on the 30th and 76°F on the 24th.

 

The temperature for January averaged 43.2°F and ranked as the warmest such month on record (since 1977).   The month was also the 5th consecutive such month with above normal temperatures.  All days averaged above normal the greatest departure occurred on the 4th with a departure of 27°F.  There 29days with maximums of 40°F or higher and 14 days with maximums of 50°F or higher.  There was only 6 days with minimums of 32°F or lower and there were o days with maximums of 32°F or lower.  Temperature extremes included 65°F on the 4th and 28°F on the 16th.

The temperature for February averaged 40.1°F and ranked as the 2nd warmest such month on record since 2008(since 1977).   The month was also the 5th consecutive such month with above normal temperatures.  Only 5 days averaged below normal.  The greatest departure occurred on the 16th with a departure of 23°F.  There were 22 days with maximums of 40°F or higher and 13 days with maximums of 50°F or higher.  There were also 4 days with maximums of 60°F or higher.  There were only 1 days with maximums od 32°F or lower (normal is 40.  There were 12 days with minimums of 32°F or lower (normal is 22).  Temperature extremes included 69°F on the 15th and 5°F on the 4th.      

The season averaged 40.5°F and ranked as the 2nd warmest season on record since 2018.  The season was also the 2nd warmest consecutive such season on record.

 

Precipitation for December totaled 3.89 (100%).  The month ranked as the 25th wettest such month on record and the driest since 1991.  The most received in a 24-hour was 1.09” on the 6-7th).  Measurable precipitation fell on only 10 days of the month.  Snow was totaled 0.2” and was 5.1” inches below normal and 6.1” below for the season.  There were 15 clear days and 9 overcast days.

Precipitation for January totaled 3.89 (109%).  The month ranked as the 17th wettest such month on record and the driest since 1985.  The most received in a 24-hour was 1.16” on the 25-26th).  Measurable precipitation fell on 16 days of the month.  Snow was totaled only a trace and was 10.0 inches below normal and 16.3” below for the season.  There was only 1 clear day and 14 overcast days.  

Precipitation for February totaled only 1.16 (42%).  The month ranked as the 4th driest such month on record and the driest since 2009.  The most received in a 24-hour was .41 on an inch on the 27-28th.  Snowfall was also below normal with only 3.8 inches (normal is 10.2).  The month ranked as the 11th least snowiest such month on record.  It was also the 4th consecutive such month with below normal temperatures.  Measurable precipitation fell on 10 days of the month.  The most to fall in a 24-hour period was 3.5 inches on the 27-28.  There 8 clear day and 6 overcast days.  

For the season, rainfall totaled only 8.94 inches and ranked as the 12th driest such season on record and the driest since 2006-07 season.   The period January-February rainfall totaled only 5.05 inches and is the 9th driest such period on record and the driest since 2013.  Snowfall was also below normal with only 4.0 inches and tied with the winter season 2011-12 as the 2nd least snowiest such season on record.  The season was also the 2nd consecutive such season with below normal snowfall.  The least snowiest month was January with only a trace recorded (normal is 10.0 inches).th.
