WINTER 2022-23: The temperature for December averaged 38.1°F and tied with December 2020 as the 15^th warmest such month on record (since 1977).   The month was also the 5^th consecutive such month with above normal temperatures.  Thirteen days averaged near or below normal.  There were 93 days with maximums of 50°F or higher and 1 day with maximums of 60°F or higher.  There were 3 days with maximums of 32°F or lower (which is normal).  There were 18 days with minimums of 32°F or lower.  Temperature extremes included 63°F on the 30^th and 76°F on the 24^th.

The temperature for January averaged 43.2°F and ranked as the warmest such month on record (since 1977).   The month was also the 5^th consecutive such month with above normal temperatures.  All days averaged above normal the greatest departure occurred on the 4^th with a departure of 27°F.  There 29days with maximums of 40°F or higher and 14 days with maximums of 50°F or higher.  There was only 6 days with minimums of 32°F or lower and there were o days with maximums of 32°F or lower.  Temperature extremes included 65°F on the 4^th and 28°F on the 16^th.

The temperature for February averaged 40.1°F and ranked as the 2^nd warmest such month on record since 2008(since 1977).   The month was also the 5^th consecutive such month with above normal temperatures.  Only 5 days averaged below normal.  The greatest departure occurred on the 16^th with a departure of 23°F.  There were 22 days with maximums of 40°F or higher and 13 days with maximums of 50°F or higher.  There were also 4 days with maximums of 60°F or higher.  There were only 1 days with maximums od 32°F or lower (normal is 40.  There were 12 days with minimums of 32°F or lower (normal is 22).  Temperature extremes included 69°F on the 15^th and 5°F on the 4^th.     

The season averaged 40.5°F and ranked as the 2^nd warmest season on record since 2018.  The season was also the 2^nd warmest consecutive such season on record.

SPRING

March’s temperature averaged 44°F and ranked as the 13^th warmest such month on record since 2013 (since records started 1977).   The month was also the 4^th consecutive such month with above normal temperatures.  Thirteen days averaged near or below normal.  There were 16 days with maximums of 50°F or higher and 6 days with maximums of 60°F or higher.  There was 7 days with maximums of 32°F or lower (normal is 14).  Temperature extremes included 64°F on the 21^st and 29°F on the 19^th.     

April’s temperature averaged 57.6°F and ranked as the 2^nd warmest such month on record and the warmest since 2010 (since records started 1977).   Twelve days averaged near or below normal and occurred mostly during the last week of the month.  There were 11 days with maximums of 70°F or higher and 4 days with maximums of 80°F or higher.  There were 2 days with maximums of 90°F or higher (normal is zero).  Temperature extremes included 92°F on the 14^th and 35°F on the 3^rd.

The temperature for May averaged 63.3°F and tied with May as the 13^th warmest such month on record and was also the 2^nd consecutive such month with above normal temperatures (since records started 1977).   Fifteen days averaged near or below normal.  There were 7 days with maximums of 80°F or higher.  Temperature extremes included 88°F on the 12^th and 44°F on the 18^th.

The season averaged 54.6°F and tied with spring 1986as the 8^th consecutive such season with above normal temperatures.  The season was also the 3^rd consecutive such season with above normal temperatures. 

SUMMER

June’s temperature averaged 70.4°F and ranked as the 9^th coldest such month on record and the coldest since 2018.  The month was also the second consecutive month with near normal temperatures (since records started 1977).   There were 26 days with maximums of 85°F or lower.  There was only one days with a maximum of 90°F or higher.  Temperature extremes included 92°F on the 2^nd and 50°F on the 4^th.

The temperature in July averaged 79.7°F and ranked as the 7^th warmest such month on record and the warmest since 2019.  The month was also the second consecutive month with above normal temperatures (since records started 1977).   There were 12 days with maximums 0f 90°F or higher.  There 10 days with near or below normal temperatures.  Temperature extremes included 94°F on the 28^th and 64°F on the 31^st.

The temperature for August averaged 75.7F and tied with August 2009 as the 20^th such warmest month on record.  There weren’t any days with maximums 0f 90°F or higher (first time since 2008).  There were 5 days with maximums below 80°F.  There were 19 days with near or below normal averages.   Temperature extremes included 89°F on the14^th and 62°F on the 18^st.

Summer’s temperature averaged 76.6F and tried with the summers 1988 and 1991 as the 8^th warmest such season.

FALL

The temperature for September averaged 70°F and ranked as the 9^th warmest such month on record (since 1977) and the warmest since 2011.  Half the month experienced near or below normal temperatures.  Most occurred during the last half of the month.  There were 6 days with maximums of 90°F or higher (normal is 1) and 18 days with maximums below 80°F.  Temperature extremes included 96°F on the 7^th and 50°F on the 27^th.

The temperature for October averaged 61°F and tied with October 1984 as the 4^th warmest such month on record (since 1977).  The month was also the 4^th consecutive such month with and the consecutive month with above normal temperatures.  Ten days averaged near or above normal.  There were 6 days with maximums of 80°F or higher and 2 days with temperatures below 60°F.  Temperature extremes included 86°F on the 4^th and 44°F on the 31^st.

The temperature for November averaged 46.2°F and was near normal (-0.6°F) ranking as the 19^th warmest such month on record (since 1977) and the warmest since 2010.  The month was also the 2^nd consecutive such month with and the consecutive month with above normal temperatures.  Sixteen days averaged near or above normal.  There were 4 days with maximums of 60°F or higher and 4 days with minimums of 32°F or lower.  Temperature extremes included 69°F on the 17^th and 26°F on the Fall 29^th.    

Fall’s temperature averaged 59.1°F and tried with the falls with 1979 as the 5^th warmest   such season.

The year averaged 57.4°F and was 5.4°F above normal.  The year ranked as the 2^nd warmest such year on record and the warmest since 2012.  The year was also the 9^th consecutive year with above normal temperatures.

PRECIPITATION

WINTER

Precipitation for December totaled 3.89 (100%).  The month ranked as the 25^th wettest such month on record and the driest since 1991.  The most received in a 24-hour was 1.09” on the 6-7^th).  Measurable precipitation fell on only 10 days of the month.  Snow was totaled 0.2” and was 5.1” inches below normal and 6.1” below for the season.  There were 15 clear days and 9 overcast days.

Precipitation for January totaled 3.89 (109%).  The month ranked as the 17^th wettest such month on record and the driest since 1985.  The most received in a 24-hour was 1.16” on the 25-26^th).  Measurable precipitation fell on 16 days of the month.  Snow was totaled only a trace and was 10.0 inches below normal and 16.3” below for the season.  There was only 1 clear day and 14 overcast days.  

Precipitation for February totaled only 1.16 (42%).  The month ranked as the 4^th driest such month on record and the driest since 2009.  The most received in a 24-hour was .41 on an inch on the 27-28^th.  Snowfall was also below normal with only 3.8 inches (normal is 10.2).  The month ranked as the 11^th least snowiest such month on record.  It was also the 4^th consecutive such month with below normal temperatures.  Measurable precipitation fell on 10 days of the month.  The most to fall in a 24-hour period was 3.5 inches on the 27-28.  There 8 clear day and 6 overcast days.

The most rain to fall in a 24-hour period was 2.38 inches on the 18^th which was a record for the day.  The old record was 1.89 inches set in 2004.  Measurable precipitation fell on only 14 days of the month.  There were 11 clear days and 8 overcast days.

Precipitation in October totaled 5.25 inches (1.58 percent) and was 1.92 inches above normal.  The month ranked as the 12^th wettest such month on record and the wettest since 1989.  The month was also the 3^rd consecutive month with above normal precipitation and the 7^th consecutive such month with above normal precipitation. The most rain to fall in a 24-hour period was 2.07 inches on the 20^th-21^st.  Measurable precipitation fell on 8 days of the month.  There were 15 clear days and 5 overcast days.

Precipitation for the year totaled 53.31 inches and ranked as the 13^th wettest such year on record and the wettest since 2004. 

Snowfall was below normal with only 4.4 inches and was 28.3 inches below normal Jan-Dec. 23).  Snowfall was also below normal with only 4.0 inches and tied with the winter season 2011-12 as the 2^nd least snowiest such season on record.  The season was also the 2^nd consecutive such season with below normal snowfall.  The least snowiest month was January with only a trace recorded (normal is 10.0 inches).
